I first encountered Alex when I invited him to audition for Nativity! The Musical. As writer/director I was looking for young performers who possessed something extra special - children capable of improvising, singing, dancing and most of all winning the hearts of our audiences by just being themselves. Alex worked extremely hard to beat off thousands of other 9-12 year olds to eventually win the part of Ollie. As an original cast member of the Nativity musical (Birmingham Rep/National Tour/Eventim Apollo 2017) I had no hesitation in inviting him back for a second year as his funny, touching performances were always truthful and his characterization was so authentic and unique that he became a firm favourite with audiences up and down the country.
Alex has a natural comic ability - but he is also capable of great pathos. He works hard, takes his work seriously and is a lovely member of the company.
When directing the feature film Nativity Rocks in 2017 (Mirrorball/EOne UK Cinemas 2018) I was delighted to feature Alex in the film as he is such a funny, fresh, interesting yet completely natural performer.
I would not hesitate to recommend Alex to anyone in the theatre, TV or film industry - he is a star in the making and I wish him every success in his future career.

Alex is an exciting emerging young actor.
His work displays, technique, wit and careful planning. He has an old head on young shoulders, a real team player and a pleasure to work with.
I have worked with this young man twice and both times he has displayed a great skill in comedy.
He has proven to be reliable, a good company member and diligent.

Alex was a young performer in our 2017 original production of Nativity! The Musical. The production had 27 children, and all toured with the company and show.
Leaving home, family and routine school life is very courageous for all our young company; and having the responsibility of maintaining a professional job. Alex is someone who took it in his stride, relished the opportunity and always performed to his highest skill.
His enthusiasm and personality shone on stage in every performance, which is why we did not hesitate to enquire into his availability to return to the show when we remounted the production in 2018.

Essential Surrey & SW London
Alexander Hogg is assured of a future career either on stage or in stand-up.
Outstanding performances from the child-led cast are on a par with those we've seen in the West End's Matilda and School of Rock.
